Howdy, Partner!

Since I'm the official "family" party planner, when March hits I'm in full party mode!  My nephew's birthday is at the end of the month and my son's is in mid April.  So, all I can think about are...Parties, Parties, Parties!

This year will be a difficult one, because both boys want an "Army" themed birthday bash.  The challenge will be to make each party unique and individual.  Hmm...

Last year, my nephew chose a Cowboy/Western theme.  So, I would like to welcome you to Cowboy Austin's Ponderosa!

Mosey on through . . .

I created these treat bags using plain lunch bags from the dollar store.  I found the cute "wanted & reward" clipart on the Internet; I edited the clipart using Photoshop.  For the closure, I scalloped the edge and folded it over.  I then proceeded by punching two holes at the top and threading raffia through.  I thought the bags were missing some color, so I intertwined the kids' bandannas through the back and tied them in a simple knot.

Treat Bag Tags/Table confetti
Saying: "Thank you for moseying on out!"

Large topper, created for Austin's individual cake.  I thought the raffia added a little western feel to the topper.

Cupcake Toppers
Images found again on the Internet; imported and edited in Photoshop.
(Note: 2" scallop punch and 2" circle punch were used for the topper creation)

I created this cake using the Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan.  Once baked, I cut down the top for a lower profile cake.  I added wafers to the sides for added texture and interest.  I also added giant stars to correlate with the western theme.

40 Homemade cupcakes, complete with cherry filling, yum!

The finished product!

  9. Seeing your Western party makes me wish my own son (who is 12) was young enough to have a theme like this. It looks like tremendous fun. I hear you about sick kids...you feel so helpless sometimes. I hope everyone is doing better. Hope you are getting some sleep- moms always lose sleep when their kids are sick.
